First Leg of the Trip

OK, everybody! I'm walking to Bethlehem. Yesterday I walked for 1 hr- so I'm calling that 4 miles. And it was fun. I went over to church and walked 15 minutes before breakfast. Then I went to walk with the ladies at the Philo Gym from 8:30 to 9. Then I walked to the Post Office, back home, and to Zion and St. Thomas to deliver flyers for the CUPS Thanksgiving service.
Easy squeezy.
We're going to have to write an Advent hymn called Walking to Bethlehem. See if you can come up with some verses as you "journey" toward Christmas.
But you know the "Walker's Hymn", don't you?
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for thee.
Those lines (from "Take My Life and Let It Be" #379 in your hymnbook) never fail to bring a smile to my face. The thought of offering God feet . . .

Easy Sqeezy?

Walks can take many forms; through books, through nature observation, through prayer, through study. Physical walking is the best way to get the energy for the rest. Walking is the best time to think, observe, pray, muse, talk (to another or oneself). I look forward to our 70 miles in any way my aging hip will allow. Thank you, Pastor Cindy - you never cease to inspire me.

You are absolutely right! The walk wouldn't have to just be putting one foot in front of the other, though for some of us, that's the way to go.
You could also count another fitness activity - or time spent in meditation or devotional reading . . .
It takes about 15 minutes to walk a mile. I think you could rack up "miles" in 15 minute increments of those other things, too.
